At 8 a.m. on Sept. 14, 2025 we will be Running and Walking a 4.5 mile course through our beautiful community of Ocean Beach! Alongside the run/walk/skate, we will host a Mental Health Fair in the Hodad’s Parking Lot that also starts at 8 a.m.! This event is free to the public. The You Are Not Alone campaign aims to become a platform that supports those traumatized by the deaths of loved ones and also those who are currently suffering from anxieties, depression or self harming thoughts! We want you to know that you MATTER and that You Are Not Alone! We are all in this TOGETHER! Our intentions are to unite Ocean Beach and the surrounding areas, in this campaign highlighting Mental Heath and Suicide Prevention. Some scenes are harder to write than others. Maybe they’re deeply personal. Maybe they stir up complicated emotions. Or maybe they just feel impossible to get right. In this supportive, hands-on workshop, writers will learn how to move through emotional resistance and finally write the scenes they’ve been avoiding. Each week, the focus will be on some technical aspect of novel writing—from premise to point of view, plot & structure to methods of characterization. In addition to the weekly lesson, there will be curated readings and assignments which you may post for instructor feedback. Additionally, in the last two weeks, you will be allowed to post up to 2000 words of your work-in-progress for critique. This is a flexible course, which you can “do” at your own pace, though ideally you will follow along week by week. In this talk, Dr. Feldman will discuss his research on the epidemiology, natural history and experimental therapeutics of Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Dr. Feldman is professor of neurosciences at the University of California, San Diego. He was appointed director of the Alzheimer’s Disease Cooperative Study in April 2016. He received his MDCM degree from McGill University in Quebec, Canada in 1978. Dr. Feldman has contributed to discoveries and clinical research studies in aging, mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease, and frontotemporal dementia.
