  • Learn the ancient fiber craft of weaving your own fabric using a sustainably harvested wooden Rigid Heddle Loom and soft natural fibers. In his hands-on workshop, instructor Jeanine Ertl will teach you everything you need to know to warp and weave on your own. This class is perfect for anyone who’s been curious about weaving beyond a lap loom and wants to learn the warping and weaving processes. We’ll dive into fiber & fabric and demystify the process of getting set up (otherwise known as warping a loom), weaving, and finally, finishing and removing a woven fiber good from the loom! And, you’ll go home with handwoven fabric in-hand. Length of the final piece will depend on the individual’s own pace. All materials included. Scholarships, Military, and sibling discounts are available & Homeschoolers welcome. No experience necessary. Ages 14+ welcome! In this workshop you’ll learn: • How a Rigid Heddle Loom works; • How to Plan a Textile (e.g. sett, basic pattern & choosing fiber, etc.) • How to Warp a Rigid Heddle; • How to Weave; • How to Remove your Woven; • And, How to Finish a freshly Handwoven Textile. Option: Students will weave on my Ashford looms in-class. The instructor will have a variety of Ashford looms (Sample It and Knitters Looms) present for purchase in class.   • Sunday, May 21 from 1 – 5 p.m. OR Saturday, August 12 from 1 – 5 p.m. No experience necessary. Ages 14+ welcome! In instructor Jeanine Ertl’s class, students will weave together in a space of colorful creativity and openness. She will provide instruction on weaving, a warped lap loom and a rainbow of recycled sari silk ribbon and yarn fibers to ignite your imagination. And we’ll weave together, learning and playing with the basics of the process from start to finish, each creating a unique handwoven that can be hung or draped, according to your desires. Please feel free to bring any items you may want to incorporate into your weaving, like interesting fibers, foraged and gathered natural objects, shells with holes, beads, etc. you may want to incorporate into your weaving. Each Weaver will complete a one-of-a-kind Handwoven Wall Hanging. In addition, if you find that you’re in love with the practice, you will have an option to purchase the loom you are working with, as well as additional fiber and tools to continue at home.
