  • Learn some basic sewing skills to mend your clothes. Instructors from the Visions Museum of Textile Art will teach you how to sew on a button, repair a hole or a tear in a shirt or sweater. Bring an item of clothing you would like to mend, and we will show you how fix it or patch it. You may also learn how to make and attach a creative decorative patch or embellishment to your, shirt, jacket or jeans. You may also practice sewing a button onto a heart or star shape and learn some basic sewing stitches to make a simple gift ornament. Supplies will be provided. Event is open to ages 12-18.   • Dr. Rima Greenhill will discuss how a close reading of "The Winter’s Tale" will reveal the author’s detailed knowledge of Muscovite life, culture, climate, and Anglo-Russian marriage negotiations. And you will learn why the play contains the stage direction “Exit, pursued by a bear.” Dr. Greenhill is a Senior Lecturer in Russian language in the department of Slavic languages and literatures at Stanford University. Prior to that she taught at the School of Slavonic and East European Languages, London University where she also received her PhD in Russian language and literature. She is the author of "Shakespeare, Elizabeth and Ivan: The Role of English-Russian Relations in Love’s Labours Lost." Whether you’re a beginner or intending to deepen your relationship, all are welcome to experience the world of clay in this fun and friendly environment. By focusing on techniques to confidently create functional and aesthetic pottery, we will learn creative design, how to throw on the wheel, trimming and glazing!   • Join us for an opening reception for "Lightwall," an interactive installation that explores perception, presence, and the evolving relationship between humans and responsive technologies. Developed by artist Rita Sus in collaboration with technologist Zach Rattner and students from California State University, Fullerton, "Lightwall" integrates kinetic sculpture, custom electronics, and artificial intelligence to create an environment that responds in real time to visitors’ movement and sound. As audiences engage with the installation, shifting light patterns and rotating prisms generate continuously changing visual conditions, positioning the viewer as an active participant in the work. The opening reception offers an opportunity to experience "Lightwall" firsthand and to engage with a project that reflects the Museum’s commitment to presenting contemporary art at the intersection of art, technology, and education.
