  • Exhibitions Sr. Manager Kristian’s Staff Pick It’s summer at Inviolata, an isolated rural estate, where an extended family of tobacco farmers toil under the rule of a domineering marchesa, and where the handsome and hard-working Lazzaro (captivating newcomer Adriano Tardiolo), a young man imbued with a saint-like innocence, is alternately adored and taken advantage of. When the marchesa’s self-absorbed son, Tancredi (Luca Chikovani) first visits the fields, he senses an opportunity, and embroils Lazzaro in an audacious plan that spirals out of control and throws the estate into a complicated chaos that takes everybody by surprise. Channelling the spirit of Pasolini, Rohrwacher’s fascinating, deeply affecting parable casts an ethereal, wondrous spell, and confirms her status as one of the most inventive and compelling voices in contemporary Italian cinema with this utterly transporting film experience. • The Rose of Nevada was a fishing trawler lost at sea. 30 years later, the boat, empty and with the words “get off the boat now” scrawled on the hull, drifts to the shore of this Cornwall fishing village. Spooked, but also motivated by the presence of a perfectly good fishing boat, a small crew decides to set sail on the Nevada–they need the money and the fish are biting. Soon the crew is lost and then found… back in the 1990s, back to when the Rose of Nevada was originally lost, and now the townsfolk think two of the men are the original fishermen. Starring Callum Turner and George Mackay, Cornish filmmaker Mark Jenkins has created an entire body of films that celebrate Cornish life, especially the fishing communities, and Rose of Nevada fits into his oeuvre perfectly–at once a straightforward work, eerie, and with supernatural twists. • This exhibition presents Marita Setas Ferro’s textile sculptures as material reflections on marine ecosystems, care, and environmental precarity. Through crochet and knitting, techniques rooted in heritage and slowness, marine forms emerge as soft architectures shaped by repetition, labor, and attention. The works engage sustainability as an embedded practice, using recycled and upcycled materials to foreground responsibility within the act of making itself. Light, texture, and scale evoke the fragile equilibrium between regeneration and erosion that defines underwater life today. Rather than depicting nature, the sculptures invite proximity and embodied response, allowing touch, softness, and vulnerability to operate as forms of knowledge. Situated between craft and contemporary sculpture, the exhibition proposes sustainability as an ethical relationship between material, memory, and the fragile systems we inhabit and risk losing. • **Note: special hours for exhibition opening - Saturday, June 27, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. This exhibition features quilted works by an artist who holds a high appreciation for Guatemala and Maya culture. The colors and textures of the landscape and the abundance of textiles that the artist observed when exploring this region are interwoven throughout her works. The Maya culture is rich with history and traditions that have persevered through time in spite of hardship and civil wars. They pass on their weaving techniques and incorporate their local symbolism into future generations. The artist, Kathleen McCabe, says, “Guatemala and the Maya culture have a special place in my heart. I have travelled to the highlands numerous times … The Maya people work hard and value family. They live simple lives in simple structures… With this exhibit, I have tried to capture snippets of the Maya colors and textures. It is my hope that the viewer experiences some of that wonder via my snapshots of the Guatemala highlands.” Visions Museum of Textile Art on Facebook / Instagram
