  • Join us for a fun workshop with GOLDEN Artist Educator, Lisa Bebi where we will create a unique painting of our moms for Mother's Day! Painting using imagery in our art making is such a fun way to tell a visual story. We use photocopies as the underlying image and build from there. This is a way of creating expressive and fun art that can stand up to any other form of art. In this workshop, learn how to paint over a photocopy and how to properly adhere paper seamlessly to a substrate—without bubbles or creases. Students will walk away with a small painting and an understanding of this fun process—not to mention, these make great Mother's Day gifts! Please visit here for additional information about the event. Stay Connected on Social Media! Facebook & Instagram
  • Celebrating 30 Years of Artistic Excellence: Duke Windsor's Milestone Anniversary as a Fine Artist in San Diego County. In 1994, Duke Windsor opened his first art studio only two blocks away on Fourth Avenue, setting the stage for a prolific artistic career. Over the past three decades, Windsor has delved into a diverse array of subjects, with his captivating Urban capes garnering acclaim at juried exhibitions, group shows, and corporate venues throughout Southern California. The exhibition 'Reflections' is a unique exploration of the liminal space between urban landscapes and spiritual introspection. Through large-scale acrylic paintings, I invite viewers to delve into the transformative power of Art in ordinary alleys. The gold leaf skies in these paintings symbolize a deep spiritual reverence within the solitude of the depicted spaces, offering a unique perspective on the familiar. This exhibit features several contemporary cityscapes, and the work on display was created using acrylic and imitation gold leaf. Prepare to be inspired and moved by the transformative power of art. As Duke Windsor commemorates his 30th anniversary as a fine artist in San Diego, we celebrate his remarkable artistic achievements and the indelible impact he has made on the cultural landscape of Southern California and beyond. • First Thursdays Epic Poetry is a monthly series where we gather live on Zoom to read, discuss, and make sense of some of the longest living epics that have influenced literature, popular culture, and how we think about the past. Together, we will explore Homer’s the Iliad and then the Odyssey, and finally, ending our 10-month series with Beowulf. The live Zoom classes are designed to give you confidence and support you as you read between our live gatherings. Even if you’ve read it once (or many times, like me) you’ll find that there is always something new that arises from these ancient texts, that echoes our modern day struggles or reminds you of what it means to be human. • "Rising Tide," debuted in Spring of 2021 at the Het Scheepvaartmuseum, National Maritime Museum in Amsterdam. "Rising Tide" visualizes the human costs of the climate crisis. Dutch documentarian photographer Kadir van Lohuizen illustrates the dramatic consequences of climate change across the world through photographs, video, drone images, and sound. In response to the pressing implications of rising sea levels, The Netherlands faced a critical wake-up call on January 8, 2019, when a severe Northwestern storm, compounded by spring tide, triggered flooding on the island of Terschelling. Notably, the quays of West Terschelling were submerged, along with the surrounding area, including the iconic ‘Wierschuur’ at Easter Terschelling.
