The water-based media exhibition runs March 2-29, 2025 at our Gallery in The ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station. The free Opening Reception is Friday, Mar 7 from 5-8 p.m. with over 95 ready-to-hang original paintings plus refreshments and the fellowship of other art enthusiasts. Celebrate Valentine's Day weekend by making art with or for someone you love! In this workshop led by artist Natalie M. Godinez, participants will learn the basics of stamp carving, how to create a DIY pattern, and how to use found materials to create your own stamps. You will leave with a hand-carved stamp, a recycled stamp, and a hand-printed bandana. We hope you join us at ArtReach for this artist-led workshop! About the Artist: Natalie M Godinez (she/her/ella) is a Los Angeles-based artist, educator, and community advocate raised in Tijuana, México. Godinez explores memories, identity, and relationships to places and language through textiles, printmaking, and collaboration. She holds a Bachelor of Art in Applied Design degree from San Diego State University and she has been teaching art since 2009 across California. Thursdays, May 15, 22, 29, June 5, 12, 19, 26, 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Stained glass is unusual among the arts because of its direct relationship with light. When light passes through colored glass, different values, textures, and densities combine to form an extraordinary palette. Explore this magic by creating your own unique leaded stained-glass panel. In this 7-week course, you will learn from stained glass professional Lisa Maywood as you complete one or more 2-dimensional panels that will transform any room or space. The enrollment fee covers the cost of basic drawing materials, lead, solder, cement, and the use of the tools and machinery. Glass will be procured by each student on their own outside of class. Vintage Glassworks Studio (was Blue Dolphin Glass) is a great local source in San Diego. If you prefer your own supplies, please bring your own colored pencils and paper that is larger than 12″x12″ to the first class as you plan your project(s). It is also recommended that you bring your own safety gear (eye protection, dust mask, gloves). We have eye protection available if you do not have your own. There is no prerequisite for this class. Batter up! The East Village Association is gearing up to celebrate the start of baseball season at the 13th Annual East Village Block Party on Opening Weekend on Saturday, March 29 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Taking place on J Street from 6th to 10th Avenues in front of Petco Park, the entire community is invited to come together to celebrate the Padres and everything East Village has to offer. The free family-friendly event promises a day filled with local small businesses, live music and entertainment, a classic car show, tasty bites, local retail vendors, photo opportunities and a variety of other fun family-friendly activities. Immerse yourself in the Padres team spirit as the streets outside of Petco Park come to life. Attendees are encouraged to stroll through the streets and savor an exciting lineup of tasty bites and sips from local food and beverage vendors while soaking up the lively atmosphere.
