Learn to sew zippers, hoods, pockets and more – along with the importance of following grainlines, and how to properly measure your body and read a pattern. During the process, you’ll make your own hoodie or pullover. Instructor Tracey Herriot will show you simple troubleshooting tips, and walk students through the steps of sewing their own garment. Materials are provided. Note: there is a $15 material fee to be paid to the instructor at the start of the course. Some sewing experience required: you must know how to thread a machine and wind a bobbin. This Friday, May 5 from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. Drop by San Diego Craft Collective this Friday for a big crafting experience & enjoy live craft demonstrations from multidisciplinary artists Erin Behling and Lydia Kardos. Enjoy ceramics and woodworking demos and explore where your own creative potential can take you! We'll also be upcycling the world's largest ugly Christmas sweater into pet blankets and other usable items that will be donated to local shelters and rescues. Local Fashion Designer, Tracey Herriot, will lead a group session of sewing and brainstorming as we test, sew, and finish some of the pieces for donation. Come by and watch or jump in and help! Free Admission The House of England invites you to join in the celebration of the coronation of King Charles III, taking place on May 6, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. on the central lawn of the international cottages in Balboa Park (near the organ pavilion). The festivities promise to be a grand occasion, filled with joy and merriment. The event will include bagpipers, a Corgi parade, a brass band, dancers, and the "Charles Reveal," all in honor of the newly crowned king. Guests will have the option of enjoying specialty foods, including Coronation Chicken, the same style served at Queen Elizabeth's 1953 coronation banquet, real-deal English scones with British jam and cream, handcrafted English Toffee, and proper British tea, of course! Garden-party style seating will be provided. The coronation of King Charles III is a momentous occasion that brings together people from all walks of life to celebrate the ascension of a new monarch.
