Families in need of products should register online at the Miracles Babies website to ensure availability of diaper sizes. Diaper donations and volunteers are welcome and accepted at all distributions. Visit the Miracle Babies website to sign up to volunteer at the next diaper distribution and impact the lives of over 300 families. Major thanks to the following sponsors: Baby2Baby, Rent-A-Center, San Diego Food Bank, and Councilmember Kent Lee. Miracle Babies is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is dedicated to helping perinatal mothers and their families during their time of need by providing transportation, mental health assistance and supportive services. Our tagline is “Together for a better beginning,” reflecting the importance of this family connection in the critical early weeks and months of an infant’s life and its linkage to improved health outcomes. Transportation issues, including the increasing cost of gas, hospital parking fees, or medically unable to drive are significant barriers that many families in San Diego County, Los Angeles, and Orange County must overcome to be with their babies. Miracle Babies newest initiative, My Brain & My Baby, aims to support mothers suffering from perinatal anxiety or depression with early detection and acute medical care. By providing free transportation and mental health assistance to families, Miracle Babies helps alleviate the stressors of everyday life resulting in better health outcomes for the growth and development of baby. • Event by North County Climate Change Alliance and Northern Arizona Climate Change Alliance Our Changing Climate Series - Please join us to hear from special guest speaker Leona Morgan (Diné, she/her). This event is being co-hosted by the Northern Arizona Climate Change Alliance (NAZCCA). https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZEuc-mpqD8vGdF4F3z5Tbkogj-DPsGdp7ue?fbclid=IwY2xjawFsTNdleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHSz31GN4Qw6LXXHU-ZtyNTFJh2rayeYru4ZmVm3BwQMBSGT0ZmDjZAq5jg_aem_WajVSx__4qzbS0LdX6LHzg#/registration Our speaker will unpack the Diné history of nuclear colonialism, highlight why nuclear energy is not a solution to climate change, and make connections between New Mexico and Southern California regarding radioactive waste management. Leona Morgan (Diné, she/her) is a community organizer who has been fighting nuclear colonialism since 2007. The Albuquerque-based activist is a co-founder of Haul No!, an initiative to stop Energy Fuels' uranium mine near the Grand Canyon. She helped to successfully prevent a new uranium mining and processing project in Churchrock and Crownpoint, New Mexico. Leona grew up in Fort Defiance, Arizona, and attributes the health issues suffered by her family and others who live (or lived) near uranium sites to the resulting radioactive exposure and contamination. She is a graduate student at the University of New Mexico. There will be time for questions from the audience.

  • Conducted by Music Director Rafael Payare and featuring pianist Inon Barnatan, this program highlights the humorous side of classical music in works by Richard Strauss and Dmitri Shostakovich. Strauss wrote his tone poem Don Juan when he was just 24 years old. The work, inspired by the same figure of legend as Mozart’s Don Giovanni, was the young composer’s first international success, while Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streich depicts the misadventures of the German folk hero Till Eulenspiegel. Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2, written for his son Maxim’s 19th birthday (and for Maxim to play at his conservatory graduation exam), is an uncharacteristically cheerful piece. Shostakovich’s wrote his Piano Concerto No. 1 during the height of his early career for himself to play; it is sardonic and tongue-in-cheek, quoting and parodying several well-known pieces.
