Tractors on the course. Hay bales in the way. A toilet seat for a golf hole. This is not your typical day on the green. On Thursday, October 22, The Links at Lakehouse is shaking up the traditional golf tournament with its Greenskeeper’s Revenge Shotgun Tournament, a 4-man scramble where golfers will have to navigate challenging greens, tucked pins and some very unexpected obstacles along the way. The course has been punched, patched and put back together, and now the Greenskeeper is ready for revenge. Throughout the course, golfers will encounter a mix of obstacles made from landscaping and golf tools, tractors and mowers, flags, hay bales, a toilet seat hole and more, all strategically placed to test even the most confident golfers. The fun kicks off at 9:00 a.m. with check-in and warm-ups, followed by a 10:00 a.m. shotgun start. Teams of four will take on the course in a scramble format while also competing in Closest to the Pin and Long Drive challenges, with prizes up for grabs throughout the tournament. And because everyone could use a little help surviving the Greenskeeper’s revenge, each entry includes two mulligans, one Magic Putt, two Closest to the Pin attempts and two Long Drive attempts, along with unlimited range balls to warm up before hitting the course. Entry also includes a golf cart, tacos or a burger, one beer, a sleeve of golf balls and a Links at Lakehouse branded towel. Of course they also end on the ship, which is rumored to be haunted!! Local favorite Russ Peck provides the music for "Do Detectives Think" (1927). Judge Foozle (James Finlayson) hires The Boys to protect him from "The Slasher"! What could go wrong? "Moan and Groan, Inc." (1929) features the Our Gang kids in a haunted house, with Edgar Kennedy as the helpful policeman! In "Bum Voyage" (1934), Thelma Todd and Patsy Kelly take a cruise on Friday the 13th... with a gorilla (Charles Gemora)! Presented by the Friends of International Friendship Park, "The Traveling Tables of Amistad" will be on view in a two-week pop-up exhibit at the Museum of Us from September 6–19, 2026. Interactive, 90-minute workshops with Friends of International Friendship Park Program Director, Dan Watman, will be offered on select dates to learn more about International Friendship Park. In this workshop, participants will address symbolic or literal walls causing division in their own communities, cities, and countries. They will learn about the divisions at the border in the San Diego/Tijuana region, and then come together around the first converted table to share common themes and explore solutions. Workshops are included with Museum admission. No registration is required. This special concert honors the 270th anniversary of the birth of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, one of history's most beloved and influential musical geniuses. Audiences will enjoy an inspiring program of Mozart's timeless masterpieces, performed by distinguished musicians from Europe and the United States. Internationally celebrated pianist Tian Jiang appears as soloist in Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 in A Major, K. 488. Praised as "a thoughtful interpreter" by The New York Times and "a deeply persuasive Mozartean" by The Los Angeles Times, he is recognized for performances that combine poetic artistry, technical mastery, and expressive depth. At its center is "Shift," a virtuosic trombone concerto by Composer in Residence Jimmy López. Performed by Jörgen van Rijen and co commissioned by the San Diego, Rotterdam, and San Francisco symphonies, the four movement work explores the elements – Sound, Water, Light and Sonoluminescence, where vibrating sound waves create bubbles that glow with light. Debussy’s "Nocturnes" evokes atmospheric scenes inspired by Whistler’s paintings: drifting Clouds and festive Celebrations. Ravel’s dazzling "Alborada del Gracioso," steeped in Spanish flair, radiates rhythm and wit, while his earlier "Rapsodie espagnole" sways between habanera languor and fiery malagueña energy. Poulenc’s "Les biches" (The Does) suite captures 1920s Paris at its most spirited – modern women at play, love affairs, and cocktails in chic salons, animated by jazzy exuberance and sly humor. Together these works celebrate French imagination in all its forms – mystery and sunlight, elegance and daring – culminating in a concert that bridges impressionist beauty, modern brilliance, and vibrant contemporary sound.
