Wednesday, September 18 — 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Join our Blackletter Calligraphy workshop for beginners where we will explore writing with a broad-edge parallel pen. This versatile tool allows you to create the thick and thin strokes that define the Blackletter style. Blackletter, also known as Gothic script, is a beautiful and intricate style of calligraphy that has been used since the 12th century. Today, Blackletter remains a popular choice for tattoos, certificates, logos and various forms graphic design. Instructor: Eric Strenger Who should attend? This workshop is encouraged for students of all levels, including someone who has never taken a calligraphy class before. Pointed pen calligraphers who would like to learn broad-edge calligraphy techniques. Pathways to Citizenship, a Solana Beach-based non profit serving qualified individuals seeking US citizenship, will host its annual Party with a Purpose fundraising fest on Sunday, Oct 13. The "sunset on the green" happy hour will feature steel drum band "Sounds of Paradise," tasty international cuisine, tropical beverages and the opportunity to win holiday packages, local entertainment, and one-of-a-kind art pieces by local artists. Support goes to pro-bono legal and educational services for Ukrainian and Afghan refugees and qualified immigrants from around the world while enjoying cool drinks, good food and sunset on the green.
