  • San Diego Early Music Society will host Dutch American harpsichordist Kathryn Cok in a solo concert on October 27 that will highlight the connections between composers Dietrich Buxtehude and Johann Sebastian Bach. Kathryn Cok will open the San Diego Early Music Society’s 2024-2025 season of concerts as part of the Solo Series. Her concert will take place at St. Paul’s Cathedral at 7:30 p.m. Additional information and tickets are available on the Society’s website. Kathryn Cok is an internationally recognized soloist and basso continuo player, and is an accomplished harpsichordist, fortepianist and academic. She currently teaches at the Royal Conservatoire in the Hague, where she also sits as the Head of Master Research. As part of her visit to San Diego, Dr. Cok will be give a masterclass to keyboard students at SDSU and UCSD in collaboration with professors Tina Chong (SDSU) and Takae Ohnishi (UCSD).   • North City is set to host a free outdoor movie night on Friday, October 25, featuring Disney’s "Coco"! The festivities begin at 5 p.m. with games, family activities, and movie character meet-and-greets, followed by the movie screening at 6:30 p.m. The event will feature a Mariachi Band, Dia de los Muertos decor with an ofrenda, a festive straw bale and pumpkin display, and special appearances by Coco’s beloved characters, Miguel and Héctor.
