Spreckels Organ Society – a non-profit organization curating concerts and performances in the heart of Balboa Park – is inviting the public for a one-of-a-kind Insiders Tour of the inner-workings of the iconic Spreckels Organ, as well as a special brunch, on Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There will be a continental brunch, on-stage seating, and an exclusive performance by San Diego Civic Organist Raúl Prieto Ramírez, who is also the Artistic Director of the Spreckels Organ Society. Curator Dale Sorenson will begin with an introduction on the mechanics of the Spreckels Organ, followed by the “Insiders Tour” of the Spreckels Organ (tour requires guests to be able to navigate stairs and tight spaces). This annual event is the only time the public will be allowed into the windchest while the organ is playing. Oceanside Theatre Company’s Youth Academy returns this fall from September 3 to November 17 at the Brooks Theater for rehearsals for “The Addams Family.” Students ages 10-19 are invited to hone their acting, dancing and singing skills in this three-month musical theatre program. The Addams Family, a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story in which Gomez Addams is forced to keep the secret from his wife about his daughter Wednesday, the princess of darkness, dating a regular guy. Some of the people who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6 believed in the QAnon conspiracy theory. In the aftermath, social media platforms ramped up efforts to push QAnon content off their sites. Four years later, the QAnon movement has morphed into something else.

What do vampires, zombies, and viruses all have in common? Learn about some of the world's most interesting (and dangerous) diseases, how they are transmitted, and why some of them are so harmful to the human body. Participants will also examine how pop culture icons, like Spiderman and Venom relate to viruses. Using creative methods, such as clay models, comic writing, infographics, and storytelling, participants will showcase what they have learned. This is an in-person workshop.
