NOVO Brazil Brewing Company is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at its Chula Vista headquarters and taproom on Friday, March 15 starting at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy live music from rock, punk, and blues band The Agents of Apollo until 7:30 p.m. Then at 8 p.m., DJ Qenoe takes over. These 6 inspiring women have made unique contributions to our community. JFest celebrates their lives and accomplishments. Directed by Ali Viterbi Written by Sarah Price Keating, Rebecca Myers, Todd Salovey, and Ali Viterbi Debbie Kornberg is a spice expert and entrepreneur. She owns SPICE + LEAF and teaches weekly Spice It Up with Deb: A Live Cooking Experience workshops. Dr. Barbara Parker is a professor emerita in the Department of Medicine at UCSD and a medical oncologist at UC San Diego Health. She was the medical director of oncology services and senior deputy director of Cancer Medicine at Moores Cancer Center. Rabbi Devorah Marcus has been the senior Rabbi at Temple Emanu-El since 2013. Bev Pamensky is the Executive Director of the Kindness Initiative, an organization dedicated to alleviating poverty in the San Diego Jewish community. Sara Brown is the San Diego regional director of the American Jewish Committee. She was previously the Executive Director of the Center for Holocaust, Human Rights, and Genocide Education, and managed post-secondary education programming for USC Shoah Foundation. She also conducted research and wrote a book on the Rwandan genocide. Vered Libstein is a survivor of the October 7 terrorist attack in Israel. Her husband, Ofir Libstein, was the mayor of San Diego's sister city Sha'ar HaNegev, and he (along with their son, her mother, and her nephew) was murdered on October 7. Third Sunday Craft is a monthly gathering of creative writers that fosters support, inspiration, and community. More than craft classes, Third Sunday Craft will help you construct and sustain a writing practice. New focus topics for each session will challenge writers to explore and expand their craft. Generative writing prompts will encourage you to grow and learn in exciting new ways. Sharing your work within a safe, supportive community will help you discover and strengthen your voice. MiraCosta College vocalists host the top solo singers from San Diego County in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Musical Theatre and Commercial Music categories. Auditions for students of all levels take place during the day and culminate with an afternoon showcase of dynamic solo performances by the winners from each category. In support of their critically acclaimed album 'Strangers No More' released last year, Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors will headline Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach on May 12th with opener Donovan Woods. It has been a banner year for Holcomb and his band who gave “Find Your People” its late-night TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this year. This follows the band’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade debut on November 23rd performing “Find Your People” on the Ignitng Memories Solo Stove float. In July they returned to CBS Saturday Morning to perform “Find Your People” along with “All the Money in the World” and “Fly,” and they made their first ever appearance on Live with Kelly & Mark on October 3rd, returning to the show in December to perform “Dance With Everybody.” On the live front, the band returned to Bonnaroo on June 18th, spent the summer on the road as direct support for Darius Rucker, and spent the fall both headlining and supporting The Head and The Heart. In addition, Holcomb did a solo tour of Europe in January 2024 making a stop to perform at the Americana Music Association UK Awards, and outside of their annual Neighborly Christmas Shows, Drew and his wife Ellie Holcomb spent February on the road together for their Feels Like Home tour.
