  • Third Sunday Craft is a monthly gathering of creative writers that fosters support, inspiration, and community. More than craft classes, Third Sunday Craft will help you construct and sustain a writing practice. New focus topics for each session will challenge writers to explore and expand their craft. Generative writing prompts will encourage you to grow and learn in exciting new ways. Sharing your work within a safe, supportive community will help you discover and strengthen your voice.   • Together for 20: Celebrating Two Decades of Economic Empowerment The Bloom Together Brunch, hosted by Women’s Empowerment International (WE), is a springtime fundraiser in celebration of International Women’s Day, Women’s History Month, and the kick-off to the organization’s 20th anniversary of grantmaking.   • Join the House of Ireland in Balboa Park to celebrate Irish heritage and culture on St. Patrick's Day this year. The Cottage will be hosing the lawn program in the Houses of Pacific Relations green space in Balboa Park on March 17. Irish stew and treats will be available from 11 a.m. until sell out. Lawn program with traditional Irish music, Irish dance, and singing will be on stage from 2 - 3 p.m. Wear your green, arrive early, bring sunscreen and a chair, and claim a spot for the family fun.   • In support of their critically acclaimed album 'Strangers No More' released last year, Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors will headline Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach on May 12th with opener Donovan Woods. It has been a banner year for Holcomb and his band who gave “Find Your People” its late-night TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this year. This follows the band’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade debut on November 23rd performing “Find Your People” on the Ignitng Memories Solo Stove float. In July they returned to CBS Saturday Morning to perform “Find Your People” along with “All the Money in the World” and “Fly,” and they made their first ever appearance on Live with Kelly & Mark on October 3rd, returning to the show in December to perform “Dance With Everybody.” On the live front, the band returned to Bonnaroo on June 18th, spent the summer on the road as direct support for Darius Rucker, and spent the fall both headlining and supporting The Head and The Heart. In addition, Holcomb did a solo tour of Europe in January 2024 making a stop to perform at the Americana Music Association UK Awards, and outside of their annual Neighborly Christmas Shows, Drew and his wife Ellie Holcomb spent February on the road together for their Feels Like Home tour. This workshop is designed for individuals interested in learning the art of lettering. We will start the class by learning basic lettering principles and utilize Posca pens to learn 2 different lettering styles: sans serif and script. By the end of the workshop, you will have the chance to personalize your own journal cover, applying the techniques learned throughout the session.   • Time to get weird at "The New Flesh Party", a film screening and music event where body horror meets dance at Digital Gym Cinema in East Village, San Diego on May 4th This unique event will kick off at 5pm with a screening of David Cronenberg's iconic masterpiece VIDEODROME, setting the tone for an evening where television is reality, and reality is less than television.
