Hosted by Scripps Cancer Center, this free class provides a 60-minute restorative yoga and sound therapy experience that focuses on relaxation and rejuvenation though body movement and music. Participants can choose to rest comfortably or gently move through simple stretches while receiving the healing benefits of sound from a variety of instruments: singing bowls, chimes, drums and gongs. Cushioned mats and bolster cushions are available for use. We recommend participants bring a yoga blanket or light covering. The West Coast Sevens is an annual Gaelic Sports tournament held in San Diego over Memorial Day Weekend May 25, 2024. Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) clubs from around the world play traditional Irish field sports such as men’s and ladies Gaelic football, Hurling and Camogie and youth. Teams from across the U.S. and Canada will be coming to San Diego to compete on Southwestern's fields. Including our own lcoal teams - Setanta, Na Fianna Ladies, and St. Peter's Hurling Club. Come on down with the family for a fun day that will also include food, drink, great sports, and time with the Irish community. No charge to watch the games and cheer for your favorite teams. "Cups to Connections: Global Gestures of Hospitality" embraces the art of hospitality and how the act of sharing a drink has the extraordinary power to bring people together, fostering a deep sense of community and belonging. Highlighting a wide range of global traditions, the objects in Cups to Connections tell the stories of heritage and craft from across time and cultures. Hospitality is the bridge that forges connections – each custom unique, yet the act of inviting others to join for a beverage, a universal language. This exhibition is presented in collaboration with The House of Pacific Relations, a consortium of houses located in Balboa Park representing 31 cultures – bringing various cultural groups together to foster and cultivate a spirit of understanding, tolerance, and goodwill. En Pointe for Ava is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children diagnosed with brain cancer. Our mission is to increase access to treatment for families with children diagnosed with life-threatening brain cancer. Pediatric brain cancer is a rare disease with only a few available clinical trail sites across the country - forcing many families to travel many miles each month. The financial devastation is significant and forces families to make unthinkable decisions. We know this struggle because Ava, our daughter, battled brain cancer for 21 months before laying down her sword when she passed away June 15, 2022. She was only 14 years old. She was also a beautiful and talented dancer with City Ballet of San Diego. En Pointe Against Brain Cancer is a performance at the Grand Ritz Theater in Escondido filled with dance and hope followed by a dessert reception and Ava's signature drink.
