CVCC will be hosting Day of the Child on April 20, 2024, at the Memorial Park in Chula Vista. Day of the Child is a free family event that provides resources to keep children safe, healthy, and well-informed about services in the community. Over 100 informational and interactive booths are anticipated to outreach and serve children and families. There will be plenty of fun activities such as entertainment, a car show, face painting, performers, dance contests, puppets, magic shows, storytime, games, and much more. The Day of the Child event is designed to introduce kids and families to healthy and interactive activities.

MOPA celebrates its 40 years in Balboa Park and 50 years as a photo nonprofit with an intoxicating exhibition directly from London’s Victoria & Albert Museum. "Arresting Beauty: Julia Margaret Cameron" is a collection of work by one of the most innovative and influential photographers of all time. She pioneered the close-up and took photographs deliberately out of focus because she found them more beautiful that way. MOPA is pleased to be the first venue in the United States to exhibit this extensive collection from a pioneering portraitist criticized in her own time but now admired for her innovative and unconventional techniques. Debuting on KPBS on October 10, 2024, co-founder, producer, and host Cassandra Schaeg travels across the country exploring unique flavors, captivating stories, and the entrepreneurial spirit of America.

From the organizers: The sixth Latinx New Play Festival will take place at La Jolla Playhouse, October 27 – 29, 2023. The Latinx New Play Festival expands the presence of Latinx stories and artists on the American stage, and spotlights the broad range of today’s Latinx experience. Four scripts have been selected to be rehearsed and developed at the Playhouse, culminating in a live public reading at the festival. The festival will be free for everyone to attend, and includes a schedule of in-person readings of new works, panel discussions and other events. Produced by Dr. Maria Patrice Amon, the Playhouse’s 2023/2024 Artist-in-Residence, in partnership with La Jolla Playhouse, the Latinx New Play Festival was originally launched in 2016 by San Diego Repertory Theatre. The flavors and inspirations of the Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) community are near and dear to the heart of Patisserie Melanie's namesake chef and owner, Melanie Dunn. She grew up in Hawaii, immersed in a culture that celebrated their uniquely local ingredients. Throughout the month of May, she is honoring her heritage at the North Park cafe, located at 3750 30th Street. The celebration features special limited-time drinks, pastries, and a tropical twist on dinner menu items.
