In our Painting class, students will learn the fundamentals of color mixing, brushwork, and composition while experimenting with a variety of painting mediums, including acrylic, watercolor, and tempera. Through sequential projects, they build and refine their techniques, explore personal expression and visual storytelling, and present their completed work in a final showcase for family and peers. In our Sewing class, kids ages 8-12 will practice hand-sewing techniques and basic stitches while learning safe machine operation and simple troubleshooting. They develop project-planning skills, moving from initial sketches to finished pieces, and create functional and decorative items such as pouches, pillows, and small accessories.   • Students will explore the Art of Careers by learning about real artists and creating their own artwork inspired by their styles and materials. Participants will paint an acrylic sunflower inspired by Vincent van Gogh, create an ocean scene using recycled materials inspired by environmental artist Angela Haseltine Pozzi, and design yarn crafts such as bracelets or pompom animals inspired by fiber artist London Kaye. At the same time, we'll discuss how artists turn creativity into real careers. Everyone will have the opportunity to share and present their artwork in a mini gallery walk at the end of the program. "Coloring with Corelli" is a concert for young people of all ages (0-18) and their families to listen to Baroque music--specifically, Italian composer and musician Arcangelo Corelli--while coloring with crayons, markers, and colored pencils. Participants get to experience classical music in a relaxed setting, enjoying bite-sized musical segments, meeting professional musicians, and experiencing a Baroque instrument petting zoo, all while coloring and drawing.   • The Marine Room’s signature "High Tide Dinner Series" returns for summer 2026, inviting guests to enjoy one of Southern California’s most memorable oceanfront dining experiences. The series offers a rare opportunity to dine just feet from the surf as waves crash dramatically against the restaurant’s windows. Timed with the full moon and some of La Jolla’s highest tides of the year, "High Tide Dinners" will take place on June 13–15, July 12–14, and August 9–11. This year has two distinct dinner experiences including: "Rising Tide Dining": Begin the evening with an early seating from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. as the tide begins to rise along the La Jolla coastline. This experience offers a contemplative view of the ocean as the shoreline slowly shifts throughout dinner. Guests may enjoy a limited à la carte menu or a three-course menu priced at $125 per person. "High Tide Dining": Experience The Marine Room at its most iconic as the Pacific reaches its peak and watch nature put on a full display with waves crashing against the restaurant's windows. Beginning at 7 p.m. indulge in a specially curated four-course dinner accompanied by live music, priced at $165 per person. Guests may also upgrade to the Chef’s Table Experience for $250 per person, which includes curated wine pairings, enhanced courses and a take-home gift.
