The workshop will cover assembling a cardboard structure and traditional tissue paper decorating techniques used in piñatas. Diana Benavidez is a Binational artist from the San Diego/Tijuana border region. Her art practice explores piñata-making as a method of expression and storytelling. Diana builds piñatas that reflect her experiences growing up as Latinx in the Mexican-American militarized border.
