Paul Combs holds a B.Mus. in composition from the Philadelphia Musical Academy and a M.M. in performance at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. His eclectic career has included performing, composing for theater, film radio and television, and producing and announcing at radio stations in Philadelphia and Boston. From 1986 to 1999 he worked full-time in music education. From the KPBS weekend arts preview: Oolong Gallery opens a new exhibit, "Cool School (Trane of Thought)," on Saturday. It features the work of four artists: Amanda Farber, Mensah Bey, Ceres Madoo and Adam Rabinowitz. It's inspired by a movement in midcentury California art history that was dominated by white male artists — though these four artists add diverse, new voices. This predominantly white male art movement produced immense work that has remained inspirational to a myriad of artists working today.
