Interactive, analog sculptures explore how inputs derive changes, repetitive loops, or erosion. Mechanical systems with visible components driven by the viewer directly cause degradation, separation, or exhaust supply. Objects and jewelry explore elements of distortion. Subtle changes to form, pattern and texture invoke adaptations of autobiographical memory and shared reality, questioning ideas of authenticity and revision. This class meets weekly on Mondays, 3-4 times each month, from 4 – 5:30 p.m. Ages 13+ welcome! Instructor-artist Lydia Kardos teaches this introductory ceramic handbuilding course for Teens. This month-long series is full of hands-on, hand building techniques in clay. Students will create functional and non-functional ceramic art. They’ll learn how to create with coils, slab construction and clay pinching methods. See the beauty of the final results as your pieces come out of the kiln. Students will create multiple pieces and learn how to glaze finished artwork. All materials included. Create your own functional pottery! Sundays, November 15, 22 & December 6, 1-3pm Beginners welcome! Ages 18+ welcome! Come learn and practice the basics of handbuilding and develop a better understanding of clay as an artistic medium. Learn how to hand build a variety of ceramic vessels (cup, mug, plant pot) with Instructor Aleah Crump, a local artist who specializes in ceramics and functional objects. On the last day of class, students will explore glazing technique to finish their projects. Come to the workshop with good vibes and be ready to get a little messy! This class is great for beginners with little to no experience, or intermediate students who are interested in refining their handbuilding techniques. Join us for a special workshop with Guest Artisan & Instructor Chelsea Lööw, visiting from Sweden and introducing a limited series of workshops with Craft Collective this year! Massage oil bars are made to melt right onto the skin, a blend of decadence and everyday body care. Made with organic beeswax, moisturizing butters, nourishing oils, and beautiful fragrances, these buttery bars leave your skin wonderfully scented and glowy. In this class, you will learn about the benefits and properties of different ingredients and then choose a custom combination to make two of your own massage bars with simple packaging for storage. Each bar is approximately 50 grams. Keep one and give the other as a gift! A note about ingredients and sensitivities: This workshop introduces a range of plant-based oils and butters, including sweet almond, apricot kernel, coconut, castor, jojoba, avocado, marula, and moringa oils as well as butters from shea and cupuaçu. Because individual allergies and sensitivities vary, please let us know about any known seed, nut, or botanical allergies when you register. Exploring versatile running stitches! Saturday, November 14, from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Beginners welcome! Ages 10+years! The technique of decorating fabric with simple running stitches appears in many cultures around the world. Traditionally, this stitching served practical purposes: mending and reusing treasured textiles, gathering layers of fabric for warmth and insulation, and strengthening cloth for heavy use. Over time, the decorative potential of this timeless practice became equally valued, developing a rich visual “vocabulary” that allows for endless pattern variations. In this class, you’ll use a calm, meditative approach to stitching to create an embroidered piece on hand‑dyed wool felt. Your finished work will be assembled into a beautiful eyeglass case, showcasing both the functional and artistic possibilities of this traditional technique.
