Mitch Albom is the author of numerous books of fiction and nonfiction, which have collectively sold more than 40 million copies in 48 languages worldwide. He has written eight number-one New York Times bestsellers, including "Tuesdays with Morrie," the bestselling memoir of all time. Albom is a nationally-acclaimed journalist who has written for the Detroit Free Press since 1985. Albom has won first place in the Associated Press Sports Editors columnist category 13 times, and honors in that organization’s feature story writing contest seven times. His most recent book "The Little Liar" is also a NY Times bestseller.   • Sandra Cisneros will join Dean Nelson for an interview as part of the 2025 Writer's Symposium by the Sea, Writing That Redeems Sandra Cisneros is a Latina American short-story writer and poet regarded as a key figure in Chicano literature. Cisneros is best known for her first novel, "The House on Mango Street," and her subsequent short story collection, "Woman Hollering Creek and Other Stories." Her most recent books are "Martita, I Remember You: A Story in English and Spanish" and "Mujer sin vergüenza." Cisneros is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, a Ford Foundation Art of Change Fellowship, the USA Literary Award, a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship, and more. She established the Macondo Writers Workshop, which provides socially conscious workshops for writers, and she founded the Alfredo Cisneros Del Moral Foundation, which awards talented writers connected to Texas.   • America's Finest City Half Marathon is one of San Diego's fastest and most scenic half marathons. Run from the Cabrillo National Monument atop the tip of Point Loma, along San Diego Bay, Harbor Island, Embarcadero, past the Star of India, through downtown San Diego to an unforgettable finish in historic Balboa Park. America's Finest City Half Marathon and 5K is a part of In Motion Events' San Diego Foundation SoCal Triple Crown race series, which also includes the Carlsbad Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K, and the GOVX San Diego Half Marathon and 5K. This trio offers a variety of courses and scenery throughout San Diego, providing athletes with a fun and unique running experience in distinct parts of the city and county. Athletes who participate in each race in the same calendar year, no matter the distance they participate in, will be awarded a San Diego Foundation SoCal Triple Crown medal to celebrate their accomplishment of completing the race series.
