Janae’s work consists of photography printed on Paris chiffon and Florence net, which she displays for viewing and mends garments out of. The use of nearly weightless translucent textiles allows the viewer and wearer to see themselves through the fabric, becoming a part of the piece or having the piece become a part of them. Henri Matisse, one of the most influential artists of the last century, grew up in a small town in northern France. He showed no significant interest in art until he reached adulthood. We will explore his move to Paris to study drawing and painting, the teachers and artists who influenced him, the long and difficult hardships he endured, his marriage and his first success showing and selling his work.
