Join us for our Lowercase Modern Calligraphy workshop for beginners, where you will learn the art of hand lettering using a traditional pointed dip pen and ink with a contemporary approach. Many people find Modern Calligraphy attractive to learn because it allows them to create beautiful, fun, and hand-crafted letters that are unique and personal. Modern Calligraphy is often characterized by its use of thick and thin lines, which give the letters a dynamic and expressive quality. Enjoy complimentary snacks and beverages. Suffering stomach pain, a Dallas man visited his local urgent care clinic — or so he thought, until he got a bill 10 times what he'd expected.

Pacific Coast Harmony will present “Hearts Full of Song,” a show of modern four-part acappella harmony music on Sunday May 5, at 2:30 p.m. at the Rancho Santa Fe Community Center, 5967 La Sendita, Rancho Santa Fe, CA 92067. The music spans the Great American Songbook, Broadway theater and film, popular songs, and beyond. A highlight of the show will be a special appearance by Frequency, a tenor-bass acappella group at UC San Diego, founded in 2008 and completely student-run. Several other PCH members’ quartets will also perform. The show will follow a reception from 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. with beer, wine and hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction. Food and beverages are included in the ticket price. Christopher Cozier’s work as an artist, writer and curator aims to explore and affect conventional readings of the Caribbean, revealing alternative narratives and interpretations.
