Join us for a celebration of the glorious reunification of the Polish Jewish Republic. “Poland is not yet lost as long as we are alive” is a satirical, futuristic vision of the Polish reality, in which the state of Israel has been destroyed and three million Israeli Jews have returned as refugees to Poland. In this alternative reality, the Polish president is movie star Maciej Stuhr (played by the actual Maciej Stuhr) who himself made the decision to convert to Judaism, inspiring 4 million non-Jewish Poles to follow suit and convert themselves. Poland, now a country with over 7 million Jews, is on the eve of the referendum vote to determine whether Poland will become the new Jewish state. “Poland is not yet lost …” is a provocation exploring both the seduction and dangers of nationalism. It is written, directed and performed by Polish Jews, Dorota Abbe, born in Poland and Michael Rubenfeld, a native of Canada, who play versions of themselves in the performance. Structured much like a political rally, the audience is invited to imagine Poland’s incredible possible future Jewish reality; a world of equality … for all Jewish people. “Stars, Cars & Guitars” Display Reflects Surfing’s Ascendance as Cultural Touchstone Our “Stars, Cars and Guitars” exhibit demonstrates how, in less than a decade, from the years from 1958 to 1965, surfing related elements came to dominate popular culture forming a lasting effect on California, America and the world at large. From iconic record albums, period surfboards, fashion artifacts, seminal photographic images and memorabilia, visitors will get a clearer sense of why this era is considered the “golden age” of surfing and the surfing lifestyle. This exhibit presents modern surfing’s formative period and is a remembrance of modern surfing’s dawn. It had a defining influence on California’s image and an indelible effect on global culture that is just beginning to be recognized in recent years. From the film Gidget in 1959 to Dick Dales “Let’s Go Trippin’” in 1961 through the “Endless Summer” documentary in 1964, the surf craze had ignited from a swell to a full Tsunami with the peak in 1965 In 1966 boards went short, hair went long, and a golden era evolved into surfing’s next phase. Almost overnight 1967’s Summer of Love and flower power were in full bloom. There is only a very short time left to see this rare and special exhibit. HeatleyBros x Mikey’s Imaginary Friends Release New Alternative/Indie Pop Album and will perform on 11/16 at Mikey Kettinger Art Studio San Diego/Los Angeles, CA - HeatleyBros and Mikey’s Imaginary Friends independently released a collaborative album entitled ‘What This Art Is About’ on November 1st, 2024. The Game Music of Brett Heatley, aka HeatleyBros of Los Angeles, has been a staple of the internet for over a decade. HeatleyBros crystalized the nostalgic retro game sound and his music has been heard in millions of videos totaling many billions of views. His catalog has been used in countless games, with three times charting #1 on the IOS App Store and Apple Arcade, most notably in his ongoing work for the handheld phenomenon “Retro Bowl.” HeatleyBros’ desire to continuously push the boundaries of possibility has led him to his first major collaboration with longtime friend Mikey Kettinger of Mikey’s Imaginary Friends of San Diego. Mikey’s Imaginary Friends an alternative/indie project that began in Florida in 2006. It has been featured around the USA on radio, television, films and performances that combine experiential art with music performance. Their new album ‘What This Art Is About’ is a bold take on Indie Pop and Alternative, built from exceptional songwriting of Mikey paired with the world-building imagination of HeatleyBros. Their complementary combination of skills unite in a truly original sonic experience, challenging the listener to follow their heart, make art, and build community. Early versions of their collaborative songs and its first music video for ‘Little Less Hard’ have already been heard and viewed tens of thousands of times. “Mikey has always walked his talk.
