  • The Division of Arts and Humanities at UC San Diego is proud to present the "Improvisation in Rast-Panjgah" concert by Amir Hossein Pourjavadi on setar and Pejman Hadadi on tombak on May 26, 2022 at 7 p.m. at the Qualcomm Institute (Atkinson Hall/UC San Diego).   • A celebration of Jewish music, including Klezmer classics and the music of Salamone Rossi. The Hutchins Consort plays on the eight scaled violins of the violin octet designed and built by famed luthier Dr. Carleen Hutchins. The instruments are the first successful attempt to create an acoustically balanced set of instruments that can sound truly like violins across the entire range of written music. With instruments ranging from the tiny treble violin, tuned one octave above the standard violin, to the gigantic large bass violin, tuned one octave lower than a 'cello, the Hutchins Consort produces an astonishing palette of sounds.
  • Quint Gallery is hosting an afternoon pop-up at their Santa Fe St. warehouse location, featuring Abraham Razo (signs as Dhef and Rancholo), a Mexicali based graffiti artist. His distinctive and instantly recognizable style of loopy circles, often with smiles or suggesting animal elements, manages to be both fierce and playful at the same time.
