Presented by the San Diego River Park Foundation and County of San Diego Parks and Recreation Join Senior Program Manager Natalie Borchardt and County Park Ranger Doug Andrews on a hike as we explore the oak woodlands and native grasslands near the source of the San Diego River at the Santa Ysabel East Open Space Preserve. On this 8-mile out-and-back hike we will travel through oak woodlands, native grasslands, and fields of wildflowers. We will look for and identify native wildflowers. Moderate difficulty. Event Location: Santa Ysabel Open Space Preserve trailhead off Farmer Rd. Additional Notes: Family Friendly (all ages welcome), as long as all hikers are prepared for the distance. Ahoy, matey! The nautical-clad “Titans of Soft Rock,” Yachtley Crew, will be dropping anchor in San Diego this July to launch ArtPower’s summer season. For the uninitiated, Yacht Rock is a revival of the smooth soft rock and Top 40 hits from the late ’70s to early ’80s—now a nationwide sensation. Fans don captain’s hats and nautical attire, singing along to the era’s breezy, feel-good tunes. Yachtley Crew first made waves in 2017, selling out countless Southern California venues before igniting a nationwide Yacht Rock craze. If your child loves the performing arts or wants to build confidence, creativity, and community; this is the summer camp for them! T3 Triple Threat’s Summer 2025 camp participants will rehearse and perform MTI’s Broadway Junior Revue “Raise Your Voice”. T3 partners with the City of San Diego and the North Park Recreation Center, providing training in dance, voice, and acting to produce well-rounded performers. Our Summer 2025 camp is a 7-week theatrical production culminating in a multi-performance run of “Raise Your Voice”. Auditions: Friday, May 23, 5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. & Saturday, May 24, 2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Location: North Park Recreation Center, 4044 Idaho Street, San Diego, CA 92104 Auditions are free, of course! Explore Handbuilding with Clay Friday, June 6, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Ages 12+ welcome! Join us for the return of Clay Happy Hour! It’s a fun and creative evening of exploring the world of ceramics, getting your hands in clay and meeting new people. In this open studio time you are welcome to drop-in whenever you’re available during the 2-hour time listed. In this Happy Hour, you’ll learn hand-building techniques to create a spoon rest, perfect for adding a personal touch to your kitchen. Play around with textures, details, and shapes. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced crafter, this hands-on evening offers the opportunity to try something new and express your creativity. All materials are provided, and you’ll get to take home your handmade creations after they’re fired and ready for pick-up in 2-3 weeks. Grab a friend, enjoy some clay therapy, and discover the joy of crafting with clay! Just be sure to arrive before Clay Happy Hour ends at 7 p.m. so you have enough time to complete your project!
