The class will consist of students learning to round a piece of square stock, learning the four basic cuts and turning a honey dipper as their take home project. Make Tiny Ceramics! Sunday, May 18, 2 p.m. - 4p.m. -or- Saturday, June 21, 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. Join us in the land of miniatures. You will learn how and get to create tiny pottery on a mini pottery wheel. No previous pottery experience necessary! In this 2-hour class, you will learn to create 1-3 tiny pots and can add some color if you would like to. You will learn how to center the clay and open it up to form tiny pots, bowls, or plates. This class is a great way to learn the basics of a wheel on a small scale. It is less intimidating and is an accessible way to throw and center clay. Grab a friend or family member who’s been curious about ceramics and come join me in creating tiny pottery! No experience necessary. Ages 12+ welcome! Learn to Warp & Weave! May 25 or July 19, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (with a 1 hour lunch break) Learn the ancient fiber craft of weaving your own fabric using a Rigid Heddle Loom and natural fibers. In her hands-on workshop, Weaver & Dyer Jeanine Ertl will teach you everything you need to know to warp and weave on your own. This class is perfect for anyone who’s been curious about weaving beyond a lap loom and wants to learn the warping and weaving processes. We’ll dive into fiber & fabric and demystify the process of getting set up (otherwise known as warping a loom), weaving, and finally, finishing and removing a woven fiber good from the loom! And, you’ll go home with handwoven fabric in-hand. Length of the final piece will depend on the individual’s own pace. In this workshop you’ll learn how: a rigid heddle loom works; to plan a textile (e.g. sett, basic pattern & choosing fiber, etc.); to warp a rigid heddle; to weave; to remove your handwoven; and to finish a textile. Be guided by a perfumer, and aromatherapist to formulate your perfect blend, but find out what scents you choose after the blend is created and finished. This class will test your preferences and show you what you like beyond the association of name and brand.
