Inspired by the varied stitching techniques featured in "Fashioning An Icon: Virgin of Guadalupe Imagery in Textile Design", join us for our monthly stitching self guided workshop held at the George Nakashima table in Mingei's Founders Gallery. June’s project will be Tenango-inspired embroidery. Similar to Hñähñu (also known as Otomi), Tenago stitching is visible in a few textiles depicting The Virgin of Guadalupe on view in the gallery. This stitch is also known as “Pata de Gallo” or “Pata de Cabra” and could be described as a modified backstitch.
