Join the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and our conservation partners from Baja California, Pro Esteros and Alianza para la Conservación de Punta Banda, as we explore the incredible diversity of plants and wildlife that make our shared border region so special. Along the way, we’ll look and listen for birds while documenting plants, wildlife, and other living things as part of an iNaturalist bioblitz. Binoculars will be available for participants to borrow, so no special equipment or birding experience is needed. Participants are encouraged to download the free iNaturalist app before the event so you can join in and help document the biodiversity we discover together. Whether you’re an experienced birder, an iNaturalist enthusiast, or simply curious about the nature around you, all experience levels are welcome. The walk will be offered in both English and Spanish. The walk will take place along an easy, accessible trail suitable for participants using wheelchairs or bringing strollers. After the walk, stick around for more activities near the Visitor Center as part of the larger Latino Conservation Day “Journey Through the Wetlands” celebration and Tijuana River Action Month kickoff!

The City of Carlsbad’s popular biennial exhibition is returning to the William D. Cannon Art Gallery in fall 2026, with a theme of “everywhere home.” The exhibition invites artists to explore the many facets of what it is to feel at home, a deeply personal experience that varies for everyone. More than 80 local artists will be featured in the exhibition, showcasing a wide variety of works of art. "Modern Relics" invites artists to explore the everyday artifacts of contemporary life—subjects we use, love, hoard, worship, discard, or somehow refuse to throw away. Think: of the things that will be discarded, outdated or irrelevant in the future. Juror Vallo Riberto is an American independent art curator, educator and fine artist based in San Diego, California. Best known for his extensive academic career and avant-garde art curations, he served as the Director of the Southwestern College Art Gallery and has curated prominent exhibitions across Southern California. Riberto’s foundational knowledge spans studio arts and extensive art history. His academic pedigree includes training at some of the most prestigious art institutions in the United States. San Diego Potters' Guild is a juried membership of forty clay artists who exhibit and share staffing the studio daily. Themed shows rotate throughout the year in the center gallery, other areas display a variety of member works.
