Curated and led by Alila Marea Beach Resort’s Resident Certified Catador Chris Simmons, the Agave Dinner Series is a collection of seaside pairing dinners that explore the diverse range of spirits crafted from the agave plant. The 2022 series wraps up on November 3 with Fortaleza Tequila and a wanderlust-inducing five-course dinner by VAGA Chef de Cuisine Mark Enciso. Sip, savor and sway to live music – all on the open-air Oceana Terrance overlooking the Pacific. Tickets include welcome cocktails, a five-course dinner and tequila pairings. Expect personal, folkloric and literary tales to thrill and chuckle over with the theme of Tradewinds, Tides and Tales, all influenced by the Ocean Beach seaside atmosphere. We welcome new voices to the Tellabration!™ stage, Catherine Bonin and Carol Jaksa. Returning storytellers are San Diego stalwarts, Jim Dieckmann, Patti Christensen/James Nelson-Lucas (The Patchwork Players,) Fred Laskowski, Arlyn Hackett, David Schmidt and Marilyn McPhie. The evening is designed for those ages 12 and up. There will be a book table with the direction, "take one or more, toss a donation into the basket." Join us this Saturday, October 15 for a series of free cooking classes at Linda Vista Community Park! At Means of Smoke is a free cooking school from San Diego artist Brian Goeltzenleuchter and New York chef Tessa Liebman . Participants will learn recipes and techniques from members of the diverse communities that make up the Linda Vista neighborhood. Visiting is open to all, but class space is limited. Our first ever Discovery Series jazz artist, Samara Joy, won the 2019 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition. With a voice as smooth as velvet, Samara has already performed in many of the great jazz venues including Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola, The Blue Note, and Mezzrow, in addition to working with jazz greats such as Christian McBride, Pasquale Grasso, Kirk Lightsey, Cyrus Chestnut, and NEA Jazz Master Dr. Barry Harris.
