Let your kids climb into the new year at North City Mesa Rim’s Holiday Kids Camp in San Marcos! Kids ages 6-13 are invited to join in on the fun during the Five-day camp that is ideal for all climbing skill levels. The program includes rock climbing instruction taught by experienced instructors as well as games, arts, and crafts. This is a fantastic way for children to learn new skills, make long-lasting friendships and have fun. The rock-climbing lessons will include basic climbing movement and tips on how to tie knots and belay techniques that will make them feel confident in their climbing game. They will also learn mindfulness and flexibility during youth yoga classes. By the end of the camp, these young campers will be ready to ring in the new year as climbing experts! Join the Library for the 2022 Summer Festival Jazz Concerts. Sponsored by the Friends of the Coronado Library and Hotel Del Coronado, concerts will take place every other Friday from June 3-August 26. Doors will open 15 minutes prior to each performance. Closing out our Summer Festival is vocalist Joe Bourne presenting Great Gentlemen of Swing Blues and Pop. The repertoire will be a range of music from Lou Rawls. Frank Sinatra and Friends, Al Jarreau, Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, Perry Como, Louis Armstrong and a taste of Motown. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Joe Bourne was inspired by many of the big names of Jazz and popular music that toured the Boston area. Whether it's a swinging rendition of the fun song "Goody Goody," Oscar Brown's philosophical "Dat Dere," Errol Garner's romantic ballad "Misty" or his special tribute to the great Nat King Cole, Joe always captures the audience with his own style, warm mellifluous jazz baritone voice, and dynamic showmanship. Joe has shared the stage with Natalie Cole, Ray Charles, Nina Simone, Dionne Warwick and several other jazz and popular music greats. Over the years Joe has received several prestigious awards such as The Diamond of the Year award presented by The Bund Botschafter Ohne Grenzen, and the Kunstler des Jahres (Artist of the Year award), both for top-class entertainment in Germany. He has also been honored with the Silver Orpheus in Bulgaria and the Jimmy Kennedy award in Ireland, both for his special presentation of Gershwin's "Summertime."

Balboa Park's San Diego Art Institute and Lux Art Institute in Encinitas are joining forces in a new merger, the ICA San Diego. The first exhibition will feature the site-responsive work of Mexican artist Gabriel Rico.

This San Diego Sound Project concert series highlights emerging groups or artists within the San Diego region. The project is supported by an advisory committee that includes GRAMMY Award winning producer and UCSD faculty member Kamau Kenyatta, CSUSM Professor and Center ARTES Executive Director Dr. Merryl Goldberg, Grossmont College Music Department Chair Derek Cannon, Emmy Award-winning composer and MiraCosta College faculty member Christy Coobatis, and Connections Chamber Music Series Co-Founder Bridget Dolkas. The San Diego Sound Project kicks off with the Montalban Quintet, a jazzy rock collective based out of San Diego. Featuring influences of post-punk, minimalism, jazz, 50s schmaltz, field recordings, and new western art music, a live show with the Montalban Quintet is an eclectic and soul-filling experience.
