SoCalComics is excited to be teaming up with our neighbors Societe Brewing Company for a Comic-Con Kick-off Party. This event is for anyone who wants a taste of comic con without going down to the convention center. On view to the public for the first time in the US, see European art masterpieces this summer at The San Diego Museum of Art. A new exhibition, titled "Cranach to Canaletto: Masterpieces from the Bemberg Foundation," features more than 75 works of art created between about 1500 and 1800 from some of the biggest names in European painting. On display: June 18-Sept. 27, 2021 Organized by the Bemberg Foundation, based at the historic Hôtel d’Assézat in Toulouse, France, the exhibition is divided into sections exploring themes of portraiture, landscape, mythology, and domestic environments (which is subdivided into “Outdoor Pursuits” and “Interiors and Intrigue”). Along the way, issues of perceived beauty, romance, realism, and faith are considered. Opening June 18 during the Museum’s signature Art Alive floral and fundraising event, "Cranach to Canaletto: Masterpieces from the Bemberg Foundation" at The San Diego Museum of Art is further complemented by the hauntingly beautiful drawings by Ana de Alvear, a contemporary Spanish artist sharing her first US solo exhibition. Both exhibitions are on view June 18 through Sept. 27, 2021.
