  • The Hillcrest Wind Ensemble presents, That's Entertainment! an evening of music from the movies, Broadway, TV, and video games on Saturday, June 18 at Courtyard by Marriott San Diego Airport/Liberty Station. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online and will be available at the door after 6:00 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. Concert starts at 7:00 p.m. We will feature the fabulous guest vocalist Leviticus. Under the direction of Artistic Director, Christian Tordahl, the ensemble will also perform the winners of the 2021 HWE International Composition Contest. To complete the night, there will be exciting raffle prizes. She was scheduled to sing the title role of Gianni Schicchi last season, the first time the lead role was to be sung by a mezzo-soprano, but that production has now been postponed to the 2022-2023 season.

Sally Brown joins Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy, Schroeder, and Snoopy in this charming revue of vignettes and songs. With songs including “My New Philosophy,” “Beethoven Day,” “Suppertime,” and “Happiness,” this show is a great reminder of the joys of childhood. Buy your tickets today. For each ticket sold, a ticket will be given to a neighborhood student in financial need. The all-local artistic team is led by director Hunter Brown and includes music director Michael Anthony, choreographer Patrick Mayuyu, and stage manager Kathy Parks.   • From 1930 to 1947, poet, artist, and author Marshal South and his family lived on Ghost Mountain—a remote, waterless, windswept mountaintop in Blair Valley on the western edge of the Colorado Desert, now part of the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Over a period of nine of those years, South chronicled his family’s controversial primitive and natural lifestyle through monthly articles written for Desert Magazine. His articles were the reality entertainment of the day—a sort of early version of Survivor with thousands of readers awaiting the next installment.
