Learn to Wet Felt with Wool! Saturday, June 20, 9 a.m. - Noon Join us in this 3-hour workshop where you’ll learn the ancient technique of wet felting, where loose wool fibers are transformed into fabric—a process used for thousands of years to create textiles such as rugs, clothing, and even yurts. Instructor Sylviane Collier will guide you step-by-step through the process, offering demonstrations and personalized support as you create your own felted “painting.” Begin by layering richly colored merino wool fibers to design your image, then use water, soap, and gentle agitation with bamboo mats to bind the fibers together. This process is simple and immersive—more wet than messy—and towels will be provided. Each participant will leave with a unique 8” x 8” felted artwork. Inspiration images will be available, or you’re welcome to bring your own. Materials fee: $10 (cash, paid to instructor at the start of class) No prior experience necessary. Ages 14+ welcome! "Bouquet" is a curated exhibition organized by Page Art Projects and presented as a project of Campana Studios. On view at the ICA North Pavilion in Encinitas, the exhibition brings together five regional artists working across painting and sculpture whose practices engage botanical imagery through observation, history, and imagination. Rather than treating flowers as simple decoration, the works in "Bouquet" explore the many ways we assign meaning to the natural world — through study, symbolism, memory, and material form. From gardens carefully documented over time to sculptural works inspired by the historical language of flowers, each artist offers a distinct perspective on how beauty, knowledge, and cultural history intersect. Featured artists include: Laura Ball, Jean Lowe, Amy Pachowicz, Gail Roberts and Rebecca Webb. The Spreckels Organ Society presents the 38th Annual San Diego International Summer Organ Festival, the largest organ festival in the United States, featuring the historic Spreckels Organ, the largest open-air musical instrument in the world, with 5,098 pipes of up to 32-feet long, and nine percussion instruments located throughout the building. The summer-long festival – directed by Raúl Prieto Ramírez, Spreckels Organ Society’s Artistic Director and San Diego’s Civic Organist – takes place in the heart of Balboa Park, from July 13 through Sept. 7. These 90-minute, free admission concerts by acclaimed international artists are brought to the Spreckels Organ Pavilion each Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. by the Spreckels Organ Society. The concerts are free thanks to the support of the Society’s sponsors, donors, members and volunteers. This season, the Monday evening concerts feature artists from five different nations, making it a truly international festival. The variety of concerts is broad with something for everyone.
