  • Walden Family Services will celebrate its 50th anniversary with the “There’s No Place Like Home” Gala on April 30, 2026, at the historic Thursday Club in San Diego. Set against an ocean-view backdrop, the evening will bring together community leaders, supporters, and partners to benefit housing and supportive services for foster youth. Inspired by the "Wizard of Oz," the gala will feature themed décor, live entertainment including performances by Mariam T and her queens, and a menu by Behind the Scenes Catering. Proceeds will support Transitional Age Youth as they move toward independence, providing stable housing, life skills, and critical resources.   • Ocean Mohamadi and Executive Chef Nino Cusimano, the husband-and-wife team behind North Park brunch favorite "Flora", are set to open their second restaurant and pizzeria, "SONO", a modern Italian dinner spot at 2835 University Ave. in North Park on Saturday, March 14. Named for the Italian word meaning "I am," "SONO" features a menu rooted in the flavors of Sicily, Rome, and Naples. Chef Cusimano's modern Italian dishes of elevated classics shaped by innovative techniques and presentations. The menu includes house made pastas, artisan pizzas, and housemade focaccia served tableside. Signature dishes include Pizza Sono with salsiccia, friarielli arrostiti, bufala, shaved parmigiano, and toasted walnuts; Homemade baked gnocchi with pomodoro sauce, eggplant, basil, and fresh mozzarella di bufala; and Polipo Croccante with crispy octopus, potato purée, and pea sauce. Mohamadi leads the cocktail program, featuring seasonally driven classics with house infusions designed for slow sipping and late nights.   • San Diego’s original fine art festival, Mission Fed ArtWalk, will fill the streets of San Diego’s Little Italy district with more than 250 fine artists, four music stages, interactive art for families, food and fun, Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26, 2026. This year, the 42nd annual event will bring a weekend-long celebration of arts and culture to San Diego’s Little Italy. Mission Fed ArtWalk attracts 100,000 art collectors and visitors from all over the country to purchase art from established and emerging artists during the two-day festival. The event features artists from every medium of art, including painting, sculpture, glass work, photography, fine jewelry and more. After browsing and purchasing one-of-a-kind works of art, directly from the artists, attendees can enjoy four stages of live music, interactive art experiences, street food, family-friendly art projects at KidsWalk and more. This spring tradition is brought to San Diego by the same team that brings ArtWalk @ Liberty Station to the ARTS DISTRICT at Liberty Station (this year, Aug. 1-2, 2026) and ArtWalk Carlsbad to North County (Sept. 19-20, 2026), along with the fourth year of their newest event, Bella Vita Fest – a mix of chalk art and Italian wine (October 2026).
