The Six String Society’s Celestial Sirens production is ready to dazzle Oceanside on Sept. 7 with several of San Diego’s most celebrated performers! As the show unfolds, each of the Sirens take the stage to perform their own unique style of music featuring the electric Whitney Shay, (a four-time San Diego Music Award winner and Performer of the Year in 2019) who will light up the night’s sky with her powerful, soulful voice and her fun loving personality. We are also very excited to bring in San Diego Jazz icon Rebecca Jade making her long awaited Six String Society debut. For years she has toured the world with international stars including Sheila E, Dave Koz, and Elton John, but on Sept. 7th she will share the stage with Whitney and Taryn for the very first time! Over the years Jade has won multiple San Diego Music Awards including ‘Song of the Year’ in 2021 and Performer of the Year in 2020! USTA Billie Jean King Girls’ 16s & 18s National Championships Scheduled for August 3 - 11, 2024 at San Diego’s Barnes Tennis Center National Tennis Tournament to Feature Top Junior Players From Across the United States Nearly 400 of the top junior tennis players in the country, aged 16 and 18 and under, will compete for the title of National Champion. In addition, the following wild cards to the 2024 US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y., will be awarded to the tournament’s top finishers: 18s Singles Champion – US Open Main Draw Singles and US Open Juniors Main Draw Singles 18s Doubles Champions – US Open Main Draw Doubles and US Open Juniors Main Draw Doubles (required to play with same partner) 18s Singles Finalist – US Open Qualifying Singles and US Open Juniors Main Draw Singles 18s Singles 3rd place – US Open Juniors Main Draw Singles 18s Singles 4th place – US Open Juniors Qualifying Singles 18s Singles 5th place – US Open Juniors Qualifying Singles 16s Singles Champion – US Open Juniors Main Draw Singles The Girls’ 16s event will begin on Saturday, August 3 and conclude with the singles and doubles championships on Saturday, August 10. The Girls’ 18s tournament will get underway on Sunday, August 4 and conclude with the singles and doubles championships on Sunday, August 11. Both divisions feature 192-player singles draws and 96-team doubles draws. The Opening Ceremony for the USTA Billie Jean King Girls’ 16s and 18s National Championships will take place at the Barnes Tennis Center on Saturday, August 3 at 4:30 p.m. (PDT). Plaza Paseo Real invites the community to celebrate the holiday season with a series of exciting events for families and friends. Visitors can enjoy live holiday performances by the award-winning Holiday Carolers, who will bring festive harmonies to the center on Sunday, December 1 and Sunday, December 8 from Noon to 2 p.m. These professional singers, known for their backgrounds in LA Opera, theater and television, will charm guests with traditional, contemporary and jazzy carols near La Costa Coffee Roasting. The festivities continue on Sunday, December 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Plaza Paseo Real’s Holiday Spectacular. Santa Claus himself will be available for photos in the courtyard, where families can also enjoy holiday crafts, face painting, balloon art and more. Guests are encouraged to bring cameras to capture special moments with Santa. Come see the refurbished upper level at the center while celebrating the holiday season! Additionally, from December 5 through December 19, The Search for Santa’s Helpers invites visitors on a scavenger hunt to find Santa’s mischievous elves hidden throughout the center.
