A magical hourglass is going to cast its spell on North County Carlsbad when "Freaky Friday: A New Musical" comes to Carlsbad Community Theatre (CCT), July 17-19! "Freaky Friday: A New Musical" is based on the Disney Theatrical Productions stage adaptation and the 2018 Disney Channel Original Movie of "Freaky Friday," and its popularity is immense in the theatre world. In its first three days of airing on the Disney Channel, it was the number one telecast of the summer for kids and tweens. On stage, theatrical productions see overwhelming popularity with families across the country at sold out performances. "Freaky Friday: A New Musical" follows an overworked mother, Katherine, and her spontaneous teenage daughter, Ellie, who magically swap bodies the day before Katherine's wedding. Forced to walk in each other's shoes, they discover the hidden struggles of the other's life, ultimately mending their fractured relationship in a heart-warming production with a talented cast of fun characters and toe-tapping musical production numbers. Bach Collegium San Diego (BCSD), one of the country's leading baroque ensembles, closes out the calendar year with its beloved annual tradition, Handel's Messiah, presented in both English and Spanish. Messiah springs to life in both languages, this beloved oratorio continues to relish the holiday tradition. The run opens with a special performance marking the release of BCSD's El Mesías Spanish-language recording. There is a long-standing myth that King George II was so touched by the “Hallelujah” chorus that he rose to his feet, with the crowd following suit.
