ArtWalk is back at Liberty Station for its 21st year, bringing a weekend-long celebration of arts and culture to the Arts District Liberty Station, July 31 through August 2. The festival celebrates creativity from both sides of the border, with more than 175 artists coming from across several states and Mexico to show and sell their artwork, including paintings, photography, glass and ceramics, jewelry, and sculpture. For families, there will also be a KidsWalk with a variety of hands-on art activities and experiences. In addition to exploring a variety of artists, guests can partake in the “Paint the Day at the Beach,” an interactive, artist-led activation that invites ArtWalk attendees to collaboratively bring a joyful coastal scene to life. The activation features large-scale, aerial-view coastal artworks, created by Artist Sarah Honaker, using textured and dimensional elements inspired by a day at the beach. ArtWalk Liberty Station offers a fabulous outdoor setting, with an abundance of free parking. The festival has a perimeter fence, even though admission is free; the fence allows attendees to enjoy beer and wine (for those 21 years and over), while strolling around the event, rather than having to remain in a beer garden. Guests are asked to show their ID to receive a wristband to be able to purchase alcoholic beverages. This fine art show is part of the ArtWalk San Diego brand known for bringing together all facets of the arts throughout San Diego, while promoting the experience of owning original art. The San Diego Spring Home/Garden Show returns to the historic Del Mar Fairgrounds, where the Show has been part of the community for 40+ years. It is a two-day extravaganza of demonstrations, hundreds of home-improvement products and services, exhibitors, plant sales, and face-to-face consultations with top experts—all with the convenience of one-stop shopping for everything pertaining to home and garden, inside and outside. Attention high school teens! Need a dress for prom? The Princess Project San Diego is partnering with the library to provide free prom dresses and accessories to eligible teens. Teens in grades 9–12 are welcome to register for an appointment to browse a selection of donated dresses in a variety of styles and sizes. Each participant may select one dress and one accessory at no cost. Click here to view available time slots and register. 1 dress and 1 accessory per person. Multiple bookings will be cancelled. Registration is required. Frequently Asked Questions: Q: Are the dresses really free? What do I need to bring? A: Yes! Dresses are completely free. Teens must bring proof of current enrollment in high school, and complete a waiver before their appointment. Teen participants under age 18 must have their waiver completed by a parent or legal guardian. Q: Can I get more than one dress? A: Each teen may register for one (1) appointment and select one (1) free dress and one (1) accessory. Multiple registrations will be cancelled. Q: Do I need an appointment, or can I just show up? A: Please schedule an appointment in order to reserve a time to get a dress. Q: Do I need to print my confirmation? A: No printing required! Your confirmation email serves as your entry. You may show it on your phone at check-in. Q: How long will I have to shop? A: Appointments last about one hour from check-in to check-out.
