  • Library Shop Mission Hills is so excited to welcome one of our favorite middle-grade novelists, Sara Pennypacker ("Pax," "Clementine") for her latest novel, "The Lion’s Run"! This WWII story follows the courage of a young animal lover living in France as he joins the Resistance. This presentation will include an author talk with Sara Pennypacker, a Q&A and a book signing. While the book is geared towards middle-grade readers, readers of all ages are welcome and encouraged to attend! Proceeds from all book sales support the San Diego Public Library. Free to attend. RSVPs are appreciated, but walk-ins are welcome. Readers who pre-order the book through Library Shop SD will receive priority seating if space fills up!   • Experience a transformative journey with "A Walk with Yáamay," a series of free, site-specific guided “art walks” presented by New Village Arts. Led by a council of Indigenous artists and curators, these immersive tours blend natural exploration with live poetry, song, visual art, and performance. Drawing inspiration from "Yáamay: An Anthology of Feminine Perspectives Across Indigenous California," this experience invites you to become part of the narrative. Every participant will be provided with a journal and pencil to capture personal reflections, sketches, and insights as the performance unfolds around them- as well as a copy of the anthology. The "A Walk with Yáamay" program is proud to partner with Queer Sol Collective, the poets of Yáamay, and local parks and recreation spaces to bring this experience to life.
