November 7, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Join us in the woodshop for this 4-hour brush making workshop! We will cover shop safety and how to use various machines such as the bandsaw, spindle sander, edge sander, and drill press. You will hone your carving skills by adding curves and texture to your piece. We will build upon machine knowledge and cover wood shaping using various hand tools such as rasps, files, spoke shaves, hand planes, chisels, and gouges. We will also discuss design principles, functional applications, the properties of wood, and brush materials such as Tampico fibers. At the end of the workshop, each student will leave with a unique brush to be used in the home, the shop, or as a beautiful sculpture or gift. Materials are provided. We recommend students bring their own eye protection, ear protection & apron. Aprons for sale here. No experience necessary. Ages 18+ welcome. Create a unique snack tray! Tuesdays, November 3 & 17, 6-8:30 p.m. Ages 15+ welcome! In this 2-part series, students will learn the basics of handbuilding to create functional and fun pieces. Working with mid-fire clay, we will explore various methods of building forms and decorative techniques to create one-of-a-kind ceramic charcuterie plates. Students will create and build their piece in the first class and glaze their creations in the second class. Students will learn the art of glazing, with many decorative techniques. Students will be able to utilize a wide array of glazes and colors in this course. Beginners welcome! All materials provided. Additional optional materials available via the instructor for a fee. The National City Host Lions Club's 80th Annual 4th of July Carnival returns to Kimball Park from July 1–5, 2026, bringing five days of family-friendly fun, entertainment, delicious food, thrilling rides, and community celebration. Guests can enjoy a variety of carnival attractions, including rides, games, live entertainment, face painting, and an impressive lineup of food vendors. Featured vendors include Zeze's Cuisine, Pi Food, Kujo's Eats, Mr. Joey's Tacos, Turo Churros & Donuts, The Sweet Spot, along with carnival favorites such as nachos, kettle corn, sweet treats, and more.
