The annual Holiday Marketplace brings local makers and vendors together for a weekend of holiday shopping at the Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center. Visitors can find unique gifts, support local businesses, explore the Visitor Center and make a Mission Trails outing out of their holiday shopping. Satellite parking will be available at the southernmost end of the Keil’s Food Store shopping center parking lot in San Carlos, near the intersection of Jackson Drive and Navajo Road. Please park between Ace Hardware and Primos Mexican Food and take the shuttle to the Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center. Please do not park directly in front of Keil’s Food Store or any of the other storefronts. Those spaces need to remain available for customers of the businesses in the shopping center. Bach Collegium San Diego (BCSD), one of the country's leading baroque ensembles, closes out the calendar year with its beloved annual tradition, Handel's Messiah, presented in both English and Spanish. Messiah springs to life in both languages, this beloved oratorio continues to relish the holiday tradition. The run opens with a special performance marking the release of BCSD's El Mesías Spanish-language recording. Then, you’ll be introduced to hapa zome, the Japanese art of transferring fresh plant pigments onto fabric by gently hammering flowers and leaves. Using seasonal blooms and this rhythmic, hands-on technique, you’ll create one-of-a-kind botanical textile on silk. The natural colors and shapes of the flowers will emerge directly onto the fabric, resulting in a scarf or bandana that can be worn, tied onto a bag, or displayed as a piece of floral art. No prior floral-design or textile experience is necessary. This workshop is welcoming to beginners and designed for anyone interested in flowers, color, and creating something beautifully unexpected.
