We will go through idea generation, how to find publications that are right for your idea, and how to pitch to editors and locate their e-mail addresses. Third Sunday Craft is a monthly gathering of creative writers that fosters support, inspiration, and community. More than craft classes, Third Sunday Craft will help you construct and sustain a writing practice. New focus topics for each session will challenge writers to explore and expand their craft. Generative writing prompts will encourage you to grow and learn in exciting new ways. Sharing your work within a safe, supportive community will help you discover and strengthen your voice. Robert Glick is an artist who paints to discover ways in which language coalesces with visual composition to achieve a higher form of expression. Much of his work deals with the changing face of nature and the human condition. His talk will be based on his 2024 book, Finding Your QUANTUM SENSE - How to Enhance Mindfulness, Perception, and Creativity which argues that “QUANTUM SENSE is common sense. Maybe in third grade your teacher said: “Tomorrow, children, we are going to write poems. Because everyone can be a poet.” Never does the teacher say, “Tomorrow, children we are going to write a novel.” (or a piece of creative non-fiction) So how do you become a poet? This workshop is designed to introduce you to the history of poetry today and provide a toolbox of techniques. The ultimate goal of the entire Certification process is to enable the writer to produce a publishable manuscript if so desired. In each workshop session, writing assignments or prompts will be provided as well as precise and qualitative feedback on the poems produced. Although not necessary, this workshop is designed to strongly encourage the generation of new work and the fine-tuning of previously written poems. Each participant will choose one book of poetry and one poetry craft book and submit, by week 5, a one to two page analysis of the book and its value, or not, to the individual’s poetry writing. Poem prompts will be given each week with the anticipation that the participants will generate new work. Participants are expected to actively participate in the read and critique portions of the workshop. Second Tuesday Explorations is a monthly gathering of creative writers that fosters support, inspiration, and community. Second Tuesday is a generative meeting. New topics for each session will challenge writers to explore and expand their craft. Generative writing prompts will encourage you to grow and learn in exciting new ways. The first hour will be spent introducing the prompt followed by a sustained ‘free-write’ period. During the second hour, writers will be invited to share their writing with the group.
