  • Meet guinea pigs with Helen Woodward Animal Center on Friday, September 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The event will include a live presentation, meet & greet*, storytime, special craft, and more! Pre-registration is not required. Free with Museum admission. Opportunities to pet the animals are limited and timed tickets will be provided upon check-in. Petting is entirely contingent upon the animals’ well-being. We recommend arriving at the Museum early to maximize your chances of meeting the animals.   • Culinary Historians of San Diego will present “Made in California, Part II,” featuring George Geary, at 10:30 a.m. September 21, in the Neil Morgan Auditorium of the San Diego Central Library, 330 Park Blvd, San Diego. The building garage provides two hours of free parking. Through George’s colorful and entertaining presentation, he will continue to illustrate and describe the remarkable stories of the California-born burger joints, diners, fast food, and restaurants that changed America from 1951-2010. Brimming with captivating historical details and photos, George’s tale will surely waken everyone’s inner foodie. George Geary is an award-winning chef, best-selling author, educator, casting judge and culinary contest judge for major food manufacturers. A former pastry chef for the Walt Disney Company, George is a Certified Culinary Professional, and was awarded the Culinary Educator Of the Year by the International Association of Culinary Professionals. He is well known for creating all of the cheesecakes for The Golden Girls. Author of several books and 11 cookbooks, George is a frequent guest on national and local LA TV.
