  • Learn to make a stained glass flower in this unique 2-hour stained glass workshop! Beginners are welcome in this introductory stained glass class. Each student will create a simple one-piece flower pattern while learning to safely handle, cut and grind glass; apply copper foil; and learn soldering techniques. After your first flower is completed you may continue making as many flowers as time allows. You may also like to explore creating a two or three-piece flower pattern that will be available. Glass is included in the class price and all tools are supplied. Material fee: $5 payable to the instructor at the start of the workshop. No experience necessary.   • In this class you will make a gorgeous, shaped belt bag perfect for your own adventures or gifting. The skills taught in this class include: how to sew darts; sewing a lined welt zip; bias binding; and bag hardware installation. This bag is highly customizable. You will go home with the pattern and ready to practice new bag making skills. An alternative to the webbing strap could be repurposing an old belt, or from a bag you no longer use. Thrift stores are full of interesting belts and hardware to harvest from bags! This class is appropriate for a sewer with knowledge of how to use a sewing machine and sewing basics. If you’re not sure if you’re ready for this class, email and ask any questions you might have beforehand.   • Learn Plain Weave, Clasped Weft & Hemstitching! September 21, from 2-5 p.m. Have you wanted to dive into the mindful, rhythmic, magic of weaving? In this rigid heddle loom workshop, students will learn to weave their own unique handwoven fabric in both plain weave (a classic, simple pattern) and clasped weft (where two wefts interconnect, creating unique patterns). Each student will learn the basics of how the loom works, a variety of simple weaving techniques, plain weave, clasped weft weaving, and finally, hemstitching for a finished piece. Students will weave a length of handwoven fabric of their choosing using the techniques in-class. Looms will be pre-warped in this class and students will weave together on Ashford Looms with 100% cotton fiber for a fiber-friendly afternoon. Beginners, as well as those with weaving experience are welcome. No experience necessary.
