It’s Leo Summer Season! beat the heat indoors with a tropical-themed dance social and learn some new moves with Michelle! There will be food to share and coconut water provided. An evening of community yoga and sound healing beneath the palms at Tecolote Shores South. Join us for a Full Moon gathering on Mission Bay, where we’ll flow through a sunset Vinyasa yoga practice under the palm trees before settling into a restorative sound healing and meditation session. We’ll also create space for quiet reflection with time for journaling, whether through personal reflection or guided prompts. The evening will close beneath the rising Full Moon over the bay. These gatherings are intended as a collective pause, a chance to reconnect with ourselves, move intentionally, release what feels heavy, and welcome in new energy with the support of community and nature. Learners will be directed based on technical and social-emotional skills—while also being given freedom to personalize each finished piece. Sarah Ekedal, Art Coordinator at Grant UTK–8 Elementary in Mission Hills, specializes in creating art projects that connect young artists with the broader community. While teaching art at Grant, Sarah coordinates numerous young art displays in the community, including the coordination of the production of 70 hand-painted banners for the annual Colors on Canvas Banners contest. She partnered with the New Children’s Museum to implement their Social Emotional Learning Through Art curriculum. Previously, Sarah was the art coordinator at Lindbergh-Schweitzer Elementary (now Clairemont Canyons Academy) and taught at Clay for Kids. Held in the laid-back beach town of Encinitas, the annual celebration blends authentic Bavarian traditions with distinctly California cool. Think steins of German beer, sizzling bratwurst, live oompah music, artisan shopping, a dog costume contest, craft beer gardens, kids' activities, dancing in the streets, and thousands of festivalgoers celebrating under sunny coastal skies. More than 10,000 attendees are expected for this year's milestone event, which spans several blocks and transforms Encinitas into a vibrant open-air festival celebrating both the city's German roots and its eclectic surf-town personality.
