With a lead gift from the Walter J. & Betty C. Zable Foundation, the new Performing Arts and Fine Arts Center at TERI Campus of Life features a 197-seat theater, drama studios, music studios, multi-sensory rooms, art and ceramics studios, and more. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, McKinley began studying Jazz and Classical piano at the age of three. His smooth and eclectic sound blends classical, jazz, R&B, and hip hop together forming an explosive Jazz sound reminiscent of some of his influences such as Art Tatum, Bill Evans, Chick Corea and Oscar Peterson. Vocal Highlights: ● César Andrés Parreño: This captivating tenor, attending Juilliard school of Music, the first and only Ecuadorian to attend the prestigious school, will grace the stage with his mesmerizing voice, praised by the Wall Street Journal and Opera Today. He's also a 2023 Duncan Williams Voice Competition winner (Emerging Artist). ● Becca Ung: SanDiego's own mezzo-soprano returns, having impressed audiences with her beautiful voice in "Romance of the Western Chamber." as Lady Tsui. She will perform two pieces, including the beloved "La Serenata," accompanied by her father, Rev. Tang, on violin. Instrumental Delights: ● Instrument Trio: Experience the masterful sounds of Daniel Grave (cello), Elena Yarritu (flute), and ChoHyun Park (piano). These accomplished local musicians and educators will treat you to their artistry. ● Chinese Instrument Duos: Immerse yourself inthe unique sounds of Weiping Wang on Yangqin (Chinese dulcimer) and Hao Wen on Guzheng. ● Returning Veterans: Violinist Filip Pogady and saxophonist Todd Rewoldt bring their passion and expertise back to the stage, ready to enthrall the audience.   • Shelter to Soldier, a nonprofit organization that adopts dogs from local shelters and trains them to become service dogs for post 9/11 veterans suffering from PTSD, TBI, Military Sexual Trauma, and or other injuries associated with traumatic service experiences, is pleased to announce their second annual ‘Sisterhood of Service’ event for women veterans and women in active-duty military. Presented by The Boeing Company and co-hosted by Foundation for Women Warriors, this event is a celebration of women veterans and women in active-duty military, honoring their dedication to our country. This event will be held on May 16 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the beautiful Mission Beach Women’s Club on Mission Bay. Attendees will enjoy an all-levels yoga flow along the bay lead by Veterans Yoga Project, followed by refreshments, resources for women veterans, a luncheon with inspirational guest speaker, goal-setting workshop, and swag bags for each guest. Guests will have the option to continue the fun after the event with a complimentary kayak or SUP rental on Mission Bay. Written by Mario Vega, with captivating music and lyrics by Eliza Vedar, and concept by Maria Patrice Amon, "Pásale Pásale" unfolds as a celebration of community, resilience, and the power of unity. Through infectious laughter, soul-stirring music, and heartfelt moments, the production invites audiences to witness the strength that emerges when communities come together in the face of adversity. The event is set to take place at the Belly Up Tavern, featuring a variety of chili recipes for attendees to sample and vote on, alongside music, entertainment, and raffle prizes to further fundraise for the Veterans Association of North County.   • The Robin Henkel Band with Horns performs their own unique blend of jazz, blues, funk and swing. Firmly grounded in artistic expression Robin describes it this way, “Our performances honor the rich music traditions of blues, jazz, swing and funk. The usual line-up is trumpet with tenor and baritone saxophones, guitar, bass and drums. Sometimes clarinet and congas find their way into the mix. We love playing music that is modern as well as digging into the styles of great artists from the past such as Duke Ellington and Slim Gaillard.” Robin Henkel is a four time recipient of Best Blues at the San Diego Music Awards. This band has been performing and evolving with members coming and going for over thirty years. “In the 1980s we opened for John McLaughlin at the Bacchanal as well as performed the KSDS 88.3 Jazz Live show in the Saville Theatre.” Robin has appeared with the San Diego Symphony, Sha Na Na, Johnny Almond, Willie King, Lowell Fulson, Jimmy Witherspoon and Buddy Miles.
