Join the Museum of Us for a pop-up poetry-making lab with San Diego’s 2024 Poet Laureate, Jason Magabo Perez. These pop-up writing labs are included with admission, and visitors are invited to drop-in at any point during the labs to participate. All are welcome! Jason Magabo Perez, Ph.D., will lead three creating writing labs in the Hostile Terrain 94 exhibition. Visitors will engage with the exhibit through the creative process of writing poetry, and explore poetry-making techniques like ekphrasis, cut-up, documentary, and collage. "Espacios & Lines," a temporary art exhibition that showcases the culture of our shared binational region of 7.1 million people as it explores the border of art and design. "Espacios & Lines" features the work of 16 local artists, half of whom work binational, five who fully reside in Baja California. Their work addresses the region’s shared symbolism, unseen vantage points, reimagined lines, design as a necessity, design as reconstruction and more. This exhibit follows the World Design Organization’s (WDO) joint designation of San Diego and Tijuana as the World Design Capital 2024 (WDC). As the first binational selection in WDO history, this designation for San Diego and Tijuana is pioneering and brings a global spotlight to our region. San Diego Canyonlands wants to make sure the trails are clear and that the native plants are safe from potential fire. Your work will also assure that the plants present in the canyon will continue to thrive and be resilient in the face of the ever-present danger of climate change.
