UC San Diego’s Natural Reserve System hosts Love Your Wetlands Day each year in conjunction with San Diego Audubon Society, City of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation and Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve. Last year more than 1,000 eager participants gathered at UC San Diego’s protected Kendall-Frost Mission Bay Marsh Reserve in February to participate in Love Your Wetlands Day. Volunteers participated in conservation activities, listened to science talks, and helped repair traditional Native American sailing boats during the event structured to show love to the last 1% of wetlands left in Mission Bay.
