About Kaylee Daugherty Kaylee Daugherty is an up-and-coming singer in the San Diego jazz scene. With roots in gospel and R&B, her musical interpretations come with soul and passion. She is humbled to play with some of the best musicians around and to have played at a great variety of venues in Southern California, ranging from the lively wineries of Temecula, the intimate coffeeshops of Oak Glen, to the upscale restaurants of Laguna Beach. With a repertoire of upwards 300 songs in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French, and in the styles of swing, blues, bossa nova, boleros and funk, Kaylee has a song for everyone. When asked what he’d play for First Sunday Concerts he said, “Personally I’d love to do a program of early jazz and ragtime. I’ve worked up a lot of Jelly Roll Morton music on piano and guitar, as well as music from guitarists like Johnny St. Cyr and composers like Scott Joplin. Some of the Jelly Roll Morton tunes I play were composed while he lived and worked in Tijuana/San Diego in the early 20th century, so there’s a lot of fun history to share with that music.” A fifth-generation Kentuckian, Clinton Davis grew up in rural Carroll County. His repertoire spans fiddle and banjo music native to his family home, the exuberant ragtime piano and guitar of early 20th-century New Orleans and ballad songs and dance music of the Southwest. Davis’ prowess across instruments and traditional American styles has gained notice from the standard-bearers of previous generations and earned him a place amongst a new generation of American folk musicians. He has worked closely with roots guitar legends Jim Kweskin and Stefan Grossman, and is an official artist for Deering Banjos. In 2022, Davis received the commission of Kentucky Colonel in recognition of his work as a performer and educator. On Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024, the World Mission Society Church of God will host a Sock Drive event at 9230 Prospect Ave in Santee from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This initiative aims to collect 4,048 new pairs of socks to distribute to individuals who need warm clothing during the winter. All donations will be distributed by the San Diego River Park Foundation. Community members are invited to bring donations and participate in games and family activities. All sock donations must be new with tags or in their original packaging. Volunteers from the World Mission Society Church of God will be on-site to receive donations and provide information about the organization's efforts to support the local community.
