  • The annual Wildlife in Art Show, hosted by the Foothills Art Association in La mesa, is one of the longest running juried art shows is Southern California. This year makes the 34th consecutive year of this "wild" and inspiring show. The show is on exhibit from November 1, 2023 through December 6, 2023. It is free to attend and open to the public at historic Porter Hall, Foothills Art Association Gallery in La Mesa. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. An exciting reception will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2020 from 3:30 to 6:30 pm. In addition to the awards ceremony, the reception will feature refreshments and entertainment in keeping with the theme of the show. The reception is open to the public. Foothills Art Association is a nonprofit organization that promotes fine arts and offers educational and exhibition opportunities to artist in the San Diego community.

  • Calling all San Diegans and tennis enthusiasts! The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, located in the heart of La Jolla Shores, is set to host the prestigious IC Rod Laver Junior Tennis World Finals, scheduled for November 7 through November 11, 2023. This world renowned tennis competition will feature junior tennis talent from around the world, representing the following countries: Argentina, Italy, South Africa, India, Great Britain, and the United States. Each team is made up of two boys and two girls under 16, accompanied by their dedicated coaches. The tournament will feature spirited team matches, including boys' and girls' singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. Utilizing a round-robin format, each team will play five matches, with the team boasting the best overall record crowned as the champion. Admission is free and open to all who want to cheer on the rising tennis stars! Please note, there will be a $20 charge for on-site parking.   • On National Chocolate Day, learn how to make and decorate chocolates from premier chocolatier, Jim Lantry of Seabreeze Craft Chocolates. San Diego’s own Willy Wonka is offering celebratory Chocolate Truffle Making classes on Saturday, October 28. Chocolate lovers will learn how to create decadent chocolate truffles in the hands-on class. The class covers every step of the time-honored process from making and flavoring ganache, decorating the molds, crafting and filling chocolate shells, capping the truffles with chocolate, and tapping into artistic talents to decorate the truffles. The best part is taking home ganache and 21 truffles to eat all by yourself or share with friends. All materials including a gift box for the 21 chocolate truffles and a container for the remaining ganache are included. The adult classes are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and are limited to 15 guests per class.
